Charlie (C.T.) Finnegan – President
Charlie has been involved with construction in one way or another in the Hattiesburg community and The University of Southern Mississippi campus for 57 years. B. F. Hudson Jr. (Ben) has been involved for over 47+ years. In some way, whether as labor, superintendent or owner, Charlie and Ben have been involved in 32% of the total square footage of The University of Southern Mississippi campus. That is nearly 1/3 of the 4.09 million square feet of buildings at USM. Finlo Construction over the past 23 years has constructed over a ½ million square feet (580,291) to date. Some of the more notable buildings are Shelby F. Thames Research Science building, Joseph A. Cook Library, Oseola McCarty Hall, and Trent Lott Center for Excellence In Economic Development & Entrepreneurship to name a few. Finlo is also responsible for thousands of square feet of construction in the Hattiesburg area. Multiple additions to Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg Clinic, Hattiesburg-Petal-Forrest County Library and numerous churches, etc. Finlo is the first and only contractor to construct parking garages in Hattiesburg.
Finlo Construction Co., Inc. /General Contractors was started in 1974 with Charlie Finnegan as president and in 1983 B. F. Hudson Jr. jointed him as corporate secretary.
Charlie Finnegan oversees the construction. Ben Hudson is in charge of all estimating, scheduling and purchasing of materials, along with pay request and progress meetings. They are assisted by Marc Smith and Tommy Rocconi.
C. T. Finnegan attended The University of Southern Mississippi. He has 57 years of experience in the construction industry. He has been published in national magazines regarding construction projects. He has served on the Sacred Heart Catholic Financial and Building Committee, Mississippi Economic Council, BancorpSouth Bank Board, Boy and Girls Club and is president of Ormonde Plantation, Inc. He has been recognized for many awards, HUB Award, Ray Guy Boy Scouts Award, Exchange Club Patriotism Award, Forrest County Economic Development Council award for City Beautification, 1990 Who’s Who in Mississippi, USM Honors Club, USM Athletics, Chamber of Commerce and many more church and community awards.
Patrick Finnegan – V. P. & Safety Manager
35 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. Patrick has over 15 years of safety management making sure that Finlo Construction Co., Inc. has a safe working environment. His duties include working with insurance carriers and OSHA. He is responsible for safe working ethics, safety requirements, equipment and oversight of all aspects of multi-million dollar projects in the field of medical/university and commercial building.
Mr Finnegan graduated from Forrest County Agriculture High School and attended one year at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Ben F. Hudson, Jr. – Corporate Secretary
Ben is a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He has over 40+ years of experience in the construction industry. Ben is responsible for estimating negotiated projects, purchasing and scheduling. He serves on the board of Pearl River Valley Electrical Power Association, BancorpSouth, and is a USM Alumni. He is a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Marc Smith – Project Coordinator
Marc is a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in construction engineering. Marc is responsible for estimating public bids projects, purchasing, scheduling and is one of Finlo’s project coordinators. He has over 20 years experience in the construction industry. This experience began with residential construction work, and he was soon working with a large general contractor as a field scheduler and later as an assistance superintendent on larger, fast track projects. For the past ten years he has been estimator/project manager on multi-million dollar projects. Marc also works with the Student Constructors Club at USM.
Tommy Rocconi – Project Coordinator
Tommy is a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He retired from USM in 2006 with the Physical Plant Planning Department after 26 years of service as Major Projects Coordinator. He serves on the board of the USM Federal Credit Union and is past chairman of that board. At USM he was responsible for design, budgets, and construction of over 1.35 million square feet of new and additional construction to the five campuses of USM. Also, he was responsible for hundreds of thousands squares of roof replacements and numerous square feet of renovations. He was the recipient of the Staff Excellence award and certificates for construction performance.
Colby Ortega – Accountant
13 years of experience in Accounting started as Accountant for Finlo Construction Company, Inc. in 2006 where he is responsible for accounting reports, bank reconciliations, year-end financial reports, payroll checks, invoices and pay request for all projects. Mr. Ortega attended the University of Southern Mississippi receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
C. P. Daughdrill – Coordinator
28 years as Coordinator for Finlo Construction Co., Inc. Started work for Finlo Construction Company, Inc. in 1983 where he is responsible for purchasing, project coordination, delivery schedules, invoice approval and project closeout documents of multi-million dollar projects in the field of medical/university and commercial building. Mr Daughdrill graduated from Forrest County Agriculture High School and attended 2 years at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Irma Prescott – Administrative Assistant
28 years as Administrative Assistant for Finlo Construction Co., Inc. Started work for A. K. McInnis and then for Hanberry Construction before starting at Finlo Construction Company, Inc. in 1983 where she is responsible for coordination of sub contracts, insurance, filing, and administrative duties. Mrs. Prescott graduated from Hattiesburg High School and Pearl River Junior College and attended several years at the University of Southern Mississippi.
